2 Weeks Sailing in Greece

The guest speakers at our 2018 annual meeting and AGM on 11 February, Mike and Helen Norris, have offered to take up to two members of the Countess Owners’ Association with them for two weeks on their next cruise in Greece – in either April, June or the second half of September 2018.

A draw for this sailing opportunity will take place during the AGM at the Cruising Association’s excellent and most interesting facilities at Limehouse Basin in London (easily accessible by road or Docklands Light Railway).

The winner of the draw may bring their partner or a fellow member of the COA who attends the AGM – or may simply choose to go on their own.

Alternatively, they may pass on the opportunity to a fellow member of the Association who attends the meeting, in which case the Terms and Conditions of the offer would apply to that member.

Mike and Helen would be responsible for all boat costs (including, for example, marina/port fees and fuel), together with the cost of food on board.

Their guests would be responsible for their own travel costs, insurance, excursions, eating out and drinks on board.

It should be noted, however, that Island Drifter – a 37ft cutter-rigged Countess ketch – is a ‘dry’ (on passage only!) and non-smoking (at any time) boat.

1 The draw is open to COA members and honorary members who personally attend the 2018 AGM on 11 February 2018.

2 There is no obligation to participate in the Draw.

3 There will be no charge for participating in the Draw at the AGM and no donations will be requested or accepted with respect to the Draw.

4 There is no charge to attendees for receiving notification of the name of the winner (e.g. if the winner has left the AGM before the Draw takes place).

5 Mike and Helen Norris and/or The Committee reserve the right to cancel the offer at any time prior to holding the Draw. Reasons would be published in the event of such cancellation.

6 Whoever joins Mike and Helen’s cruise would be required to agree to and sign the common law disclaimer ‘Volenti non fit injuria’.”

Volenti non fit injuria is a defence in tort that means where a person engages in an event accepting and aware of the risks inherent in that event, then they cannot later complain of, or seek compensation for an injury suffered during the event. This is used often to defend against tort actions as a result of a sports injury.
